AUGUST 2026: BLACKPOOL TO OSWALDTWISTLE
Alarms going off around 3AM
A taxi all the way to Blackpool
Starting at the seaside
34 MILES walked
Around 77,500 STEPS
And all because apparently getting the taxi back home would’ve been too easy…
SEVEN amazing people got out of bed at a ridiculous hour, travelled to Blackpool and then quite literally WALKED BACK HOME TO OSSY. But underneath the aching legs, blisters, questionable decisions and the moments where we wondered whose idea this actually was… there was a reason for every single step. Yes, we wanted to raise money. But we also hope we’ve done something else. We hope we’ve inspired people.
Seven ordinary people decided to do something completely outside their comfort zones. We set ourselves a challenge, stuck together and showed exactly what can happen when people are willing to get involved and do something positive for their town.
That’s what Oswaldtwistle Onwards is about.
It’s about community. It’s about pride. It’s about people getting off their backsides and having a go.
It’s about putting Ossy on the map and showing that we’re here to make a difference.
We know we can’t change everything overnight.
So we’ll do it the only way we know how… ONE STEP AT A TIME.
And after 77,500 of them, we reckon we’ve made a decent start.
Because the only way for Ossy now is… ONWARDS.

JULY 2026: COMMUNITY CHARITY SHOWDOWN
The Oswaldtwistle Onwards Vets team is made up of a number of currently serving Armed Forces personnel and military veterans, men and women who understand service, sacrifice and the importance of remembering those who came before us. When they heard about our plans for the Tinker & Budget War Mural Project, they didn’t hesitate to get involved and support the cause. The mural will stand as a lasting tribute to our town’s military heritage, the people who served, and the generations whose stories deserve to be remembered.
On 26th July 2026, The Vets brought together a fantastic line-up of familiar faces from television, reality TV and entertainment as well as many ex-professional footballers to spend the afternoon with us and take part in a charity football match! And what a day it was.
The weather tried its best to spoil the party, but it clearly underestimated a bunch of proper Northerners! The rain came, but so did the smiles, the laughter, and the community spirit. Days like this remind us exactly what Oswaldtwistle Onwards is all about – bringing people together, supporting local causes, and making memories that will last.
To our amazing volunteers, the players on both teams, our amazing photographer Hadyn, our fantastic stall holders, food vendors, our brilliant commentary team, and every single person who came along to support the day… thank you. You all played your part in creating something really special for our community.
A special thank you goes to Jewson (Accrington) - Jewson have proudly sponsored the brand-new Oswaldtwistle Onwards Vets football kit for this event and for the Vets' upcoming fixtures and fundraising events. This sponsorship will see the team take to the pitch in style as they represent our town, our community, and the projects we’re working so hard to deliver for Oswaldtwistle.

This wasn’t just a pub crawl.
It was a celebration of everything that makes Oswaldtwistle special – our pubs, our people and our community spirit.

From 2pm until the final pint, the atmosphere was unbelievable. We laughed together, sang together, walked together and shown exactly what community is all about. It proved something we’ve always known…
Oswaldtwistle is more than just a town.
Our pubs are more than just pubs.
And our people are second to none.
So raise a glass to yourselves!
